Statement on Crisis in Ukraine

The statements on this page represent the views of the Blue Cluster Administration and do not necessarily represent the views of the University of California, or UC Davis or its Chancellor.

Chancellor Gary S. May issued the following statement on February 24th:

The images and news coming from Ukraine are deeply troubling. At UC Davis, we stand in support of those in our university community who are affected by these events. Our thoughts are with those who have connections to the region and are undoubtedly concerned about their families and loved ones throughout this crisis.

During these anxious times, I encourage students who are impacted by this situation to contact UC Davis Student Health and Counseling Services for mental health support and resources. Staff and faculty can reach out to our Academic and Staff Assistance Program (ASAP) for support and resources as well. International students and scholars can contact Services for International Students and Scholars (SISS) within Global Affairs and please read their statement of support for more guidance.

We want the Aggie community to know we are here to support you.

Statement on Reproductive Healthcare Services

The statements on this page represent the views of the Blue Cluster Administration and do not necessarily represent the views of the University of California, or UC Davis or its Chancellor.

Chancellor Gary S. May issued the following updated statement on June 24th:

To members of the UC Davis community:

I write today to not only share President Drake’s statement on today’s Supreme Court decision overturning 50 years of women having the right to make informed decisions about their health care, but also to let our community know that your reproductive options in the state of California will remain the same. On June 3, we sent a message to our students regarding their reproductive health care options.

In addition, UC Davis Health provides all care for all people who can become pregnant. Reproductive health services are part of our clinical practice and medical training as well as continuing medical education for the next generation of health care providers.

Nonetheless, I know this news has caused distress for many within our community, and there is support for you. Students can find support through counseling services by scheduling an appointment online at hem.ucdavis.edu or calling 530-752-0871. Self-care resources are also available on the Each Aggie Matters website. For immediate support, students can call Student Health and Counseling Services at 530-752-0871 for a counseling service consultation at any time. You may also text “RELATE” to 741741 for free, immediate and confidential crisis support by text message.

Faculty and staff can receive support through the Academic and Staff Assistance Program.

We will continue to move forward together to protect the human rights for people making health care decisions.
