Welcome to UC Davis!

Welcome to the Departments of Economics, History, and East Asian Studies!

Thank you for choosing one of our majors! Your academic advising team is excited to welcome you to UC Davis and are looking forward to helping you make the most of your college experience. Below is an overview of the information and steps you'll need to prepare for Fall Quarter. Be sure to review your resources at the major department level, and at the College level.

Step 1: Complete Aggie 101 (Required)

All incoming freshmen and transfer students must complete Aggie 101. This online program will provide essential information and introduce you to the key resources you’ll need to be successful at UC Davis.

Available: May 4 for First Year Students.
                  June 8 for Transfer Students.

Step 2: Aggie Advising Assignments in Canvas (Required)

Learn how to select courses, build and balance your schedule, and start satisfying the requirements you’ll need to graduate. You’ll find resources and tips to help you navigate the university, explore your interests, and ensure your first quarter is a success.

Available: May 9 for First Year Students.
                   June 13 for Transfer Students.

Step 3: Orientation Webinars - Transfer Students Only (Recommended)

The Economics, History, and East Asian Studies Advising Center will be offering webinars (for transfer students only) on topics such as class recommendations, academic resources, and tools for success in our programs, as well as being available for questions.

Available: From June through August for Transfer Students only

Step 4: Advising Appointment - Transfer Students Only (Recommended)

This is your opportunity to speak with your academic advisor one-on-one and ask specific questions about your academic record, discuss goals, and plan your schedule for fall quarter and beyond (for transfer students only). Before you meet with an advisor, we strongly recommend reviewing your Major Department resources and attending one (1) Orientation Webinar (see Step 3).

Available: Once you have attended one (1) Orientation Webinar.

Step 5: Register for Courses (Required)

After you’ve planned out your first quarter, you should have everything you need to register for classes. All students will register for courses using Schedule Builder during their assigned pass time. Watch this video to learn more about Schedule Builder.
